The Firm has a long-standing association with the International Swaps and Derivatives Association, Inc. (“ISDA”). The Firm is also ISDA’s Indian legal counsel and has provided to ISDA various industry standard Indian law opinions. These including on enforceability of netting, margin transfer, e-contracts, etc. The Firm is an active member of the ISDA Legal & Regulatory Committee for Asia Pacific, the ISDA Working Group for India and members of the firm regularly speak at various events organised by ISDA.

Juris Corp is also the legal counsel to the Fixed Income Money Market & Derivatives Association (“FIMMDA”) and through FIMMDA has advised the Reserve Bank of India on various issues relating to OTC derivatives. The Firm was instructed by FIMMDA (at the behest of RBI) and ISDA to vet the Credit Default Swap Documentation for India.

Juris Corp assisted FIMMDA and the market participants in completing the transitioning process from FIMMDA-NSE Overnight MIBID/MIBOR to FBIL-Overnight MIBOR. The Firm drafted the market documentation, sensitised the market participants on the transitioning and effects.

The Firm is also the legal counsel as to Indian law to International Capital Markets Association (“ICMA”).

The Firm’s clientele includes a spectrum of foreign banks, foreign financial institutions, Indian banks, mutual funds, insurance companies, other financial intermediaries and oil companies and global commodity trading companies. We often assist in negotiating documents and transaction structures. The Firm also advises on an ongoing basis on the legal and regulatory issues pertaining to Derivatives and Treasury Products including collateral exchange. Other clientele includes sponsors of renewable energy platforms and offshore funds.

The Firm also works closely with foreign law firms and through them, provides industry memorandums in relation to OTC derivatives market in India, the legal, regulatory and statutory requirements in relation to documentation, capacity & authority, wagering foreign exchange regulations and G20 regulatory requirements relating to derivatives transactions in India.
