RBI indicates issuance of final guidelines on Climate Risk and Sustainable Finance

Overview:

A press release on the Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policies dated 8th February 2023, issued by RBI, sets out developmental and regulatory measures, mentioning the Discussion Paper (“DP”) on Climate Risk and Sustainable Finance as placed on the RBI website on 27th July 2022. 

Technical Details:

Based on the analysis of the feedback received by RBI on the DP, the following guidelines will be issued by RBI in a phased manner:

1)   Broad framework for acceptances of Green Deposits;

2)   Disclosure framework on Climate-related Financial Risks; and

3)   Guidance on Climate Scenario Analysis and Stress Testing.

RBI shall have a dedicated webpage on its website, consolidating all instructions, press releases, publications, speeches and related RBI communication on climate risk and sustainable finance.
